Goals Report
This year I think I have really achieved all my goals and worked really hard. We have done lots of writing and maths, But I mostly have improved in writing because we have done lots of stories all year and the biggest challenge was writing the scottish story for the little kids in Room 9. There was a lots of puncuation mistakes and a lot of pages and it was all confusing at the start but then when I had started typing it up it all was alright. Not as confusing but better. My goals were:
Term 4
To get better at art
Reading...Read longer books
Writing...Write longer stories
Term 1
Writing...Write stories with better adjectives
Math...get into the top group
Learn more stuff in ICT
I use my goals a lot at home especilly for ICT, because I normally go back to some of the cool websites, that Mrs O'Carroll shows us like with powtoon. We use ICT in the classroom a lot of the time, if its going on the wiki or typing up a story. For my goal Read longer books I don't think I have achieved this goal because I didn't read really long books this year.

Phillip Hughes: Australian batsman dies, aged 25
Australia Test batsman Phillip Hughes has died in hospital, two days after being hit on the head by a delivery during a domestic match in Sydney.
Australia team doctor Peter Brukner said the 25-year-old left-hander never regained consciousness.
Hughes, who also played for Hampshire, Middlesex and Worcestershire, was struck by a ball from Sean Abbott. Australia captain Michael Clarke read out a statement on behalf of the Hughes family at a news conference held at St Vincent's Hospital, where the player, who would have been 26 on Sunday, was being treated.
On the 25th M1 had a bake sale to raise funds for our trip, to Oamaru for our social studies topic Producers and Consumers. We plan on going to Oamaru on the 4th of December. Today when we were getting ready for the bake sale it was really stressful because we had to prepare all the food the morning of the bake sale, and have it ready in time! I was helping with the lemon drink with Olivia and Ellen. After all the exciment we went back to class to count up the money. We went into our groups for maths and counted the money my group got $236.70!
This is a picture of Olivia and I using the multimeter to test the circuits.
On Wednesday the 26th some people from Meridian came and talked to us about electronics. They came because they need more people to consider having electronics as a carrier option. We started by getting a kit with:
A curcuit board
Components
A speaker
Batterys
Battery Holder
Green, red, yellow and white leds
They showed us an example of what we were making and it looked cool so I was eager to get started. We went into groups, I was with A.J. and Olivia. The leader of our group was also called A.J. We put most of the components on then started to use the soldering iron to put them on. We had to be careful because they had to be small and not touch each other. We soon were on to putting the speaker on and back to soldering. Soon I was ready to have mine tested, we tested it but two of the leds didn't work so we had to put some more solder on them. We tested them again and they worked. Sadly we didn't have enough time to program the lights and music.
All in all I had a great day!!!
I would like to get Better at art.
Reading... Read longer books
Writing... Write more interesting stories, for draft writing.

Goliath encounter: Puppy-sized spider surprises scientist in rainforest
Piotr Naskrecki was taking a night time walk in a rainforest in Guyana, when he heard rustling as if something were creeping underfoot. When he turned on his flashlight, he expected to see a small mammal, such as a possum or a rat. "When I turned on the light, I couldn't quite understand what I was seeing," said Naskrecki, an entomologist and photographer at Harvard University's Museum of Comparative Zoology. A moment later, he realised he was looking not at a brown, furry mammal, but an enormous, puppy-size spider.

Maths
In maths this week we were learning about ICM ( lowest common multiple) and HCM (highest common multiple), and how to find them. We also combined the lesson with factors and common factors between two numbers. It was quite easy when I got the hang of it, especially when we got the sheet.
Congratulations on winning Band Quest BEST ORIGINAL SONG ...... "Leaving Home"
The Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the holidays my Mum, Aimee and I went up to the North Island to stay with our cousins. Our cousins live on a dairy farm and they have a pet lamb, her name is coco. When we were coming up and landing it felt like we were on a rollercoater! We went to the beach lots of times and got lots of shells. One time we joined up with Ben who is Alex and Josh's friend, and we jumped of the sand dunes! Then after we went swimming in the sea. We saw a seal and a dead baby seal. Later that day we got a long slippery mat and rolled it down the hill and got some sleds and slid down it. I even stood up on the sled and went down the hill.
Here are some pictures from my holidays!

A blood moon is where the sun, earth and moon line up. And the light going past the earth is a sunset colour so it projects onto the moon and turns it red.

Its my 12th birthday on the 19 of September!!! YAY
On Saturday I had an awesome birthday party. I invited Jacob, Hayden, Caleb, Mackenzie, Sarah and India. At first we started hitting Hayden with balloons because he was the only boy. About ten minutes later we started the scavenger hunt. Here is the list of what we had to find!
Find ten bottle caps, hint look next door
Longest blade of grass, Green belt behind Tekapo drive
Roundest WHITEST stone run to the river
Find a flower but not one out of some ones garden!!!
Find the longest pine neddle
Then the largest pinecone
How about the smallest leaf
And last but not least the smallest pinecone
When we got back I opened up my presents. Then we turned on Avatar and watched. At one moment I got a balloon and popped it behind the couch and Mac just thought it was Hayden but soon realised it was me so everyone started to pop all the balloons. About haftway thought the movie, we stopped and had dinner and cake. When the movie was over we got some sparklers (Because it was dark) and played with them then someone suggested we go play spotlight. All though the night you could just hear all the screams from us playing spotlight!
All in all I had a great birthday!
Bridge BuildingHayden, Mackenzie, A.J. and I were in a group together. Our task was to make a bridge that weights under 150gm and can hold a weight. We had the choice of what it would be made of. We choose Bamboo sticks.
When we first weight it it was only about 23gms!
First we went on the computers and had a look at strong bridges. We decided on a simple triangle based bridge but soon made it a design of our own.
Evaluation
For our evaluation we had to put a few weights on it and we got up to 3kg, before Mr Potter told us to not put any more weights on it. Later Hayden and A.J. went and keep going to 6kg and it still didn't break!
The finished Product.

Today at 9:40am M1 went to see a play by the drama team. The whole of the senior school came to watch. It finished at 10:00am. It was about a girl that got pregnant and her mother was very against it and did not want her daughter to get married when she was only 17 and the father of her baby was 21. Her mother said that if she got married she would have to move away, and that she would not want anything to do with her or the baby. She wanted to married him but the father did not want to because she was to young and was Maori.
